John Voss sits in his modern office

As a designer, I do a little bit of everything but excel at bringing it all together. With a rounded skillset and strong point of view, I craft cohesive products, experiences, and design systems.

Like many designers, I was drawn to the field by its unique combination of creative craft and intellectual challenge. As someone with a broad set of talents, deep curiosity about the world, and an idealistic desire to help make it better, being a designer allows me to put my whole self into my work.

I love to write, dig into research, debate strategy, and mentor less experienced designers. I’m comfortable working at multiple altitudes and bungee-jumping from the big picture to the details of execution. This allows me to collaborate more deeply and flex where the work needs me.

Launched and grew the Stitch Fix design system across web, iOS, and android. Led design of company product north star. Managed two lead designers; mentored other designers through feedback, education, and team culture defining initiatives.

Founded and launched a community for LGBTQ+ people in design. Grew the community from two to over two-thousand global members. Designed and launched the first ever comprehensive survey of LGBTQ+ community’s experience in design.

Improved and extended Rocket Lawyer’s brand through research, design, collaboration, and testing while supporting the business across marketing and product. Supervised and mentored junior marketing designer. Overhauled product design team’s workflow and tooling for increased consistency, efficiency, and collaboration among designers and with engineers.
